Ticket discounts and sales
Some regular offers will get you money off your train ticket, and we’ll share the best here. You can also read our guide to the best train ticket booking apps.
Eurostar sale: 25% off each way
Get Eurostar tickets from London St Pancras to Paris, Lille, Brussels, Rotterdam or Amsterdam for 25% off each way – tickets are as low as €33 (around £27) each way.
You’ll need to book by 9 November for travel between 23 November and 17 March 2027.
As usual, fares are subject to availability and some routes will not be available on certain dates.
LNER: £5 credit
Sign up to LNER’s Perks scheme and you’ll get £5 credit. You can use this for bookings made on the app. You’ll also be able to earn 2% credit back on bookings. The credit can only be spent on LNER journeys.
If you have a friend with the LNER app already then they can refer you for a larger £10 credit on signing up, and they’ll get £10 too.
TrainPal: £3 credit
Sign up to the TrainPal app with the code acf0edfd to get £3 credit to use on tickets. This will be in the form of a £1 off £15 or more ticket and £2 off £35. You can only use one credit per ticket purchase and it will expire after two weeks.
Great British Rail Sale: up to 50% off tickets (ended)
From 6 to 12 January 2026, you can buy advance train tickets for up to 50% off.
The tickets must be booked at least three to seven days in advance and be for travel between 13 January and 25 March 2026 (inclusive).
Not all routes are available, but it’s certainly worth a look if you have any planned getaways.
There are more than a million tickets available, and this will run until they’re all sold or on 12 January 2026, whichever comes first.
Remember you might be able to claim cashback on your tickets too.
Expired deals
Northern Railway: £2 tickets (expired)
From 30 September to Thursday 2 October 2025, Northern Railway is launching 3million £2 train tickets across its network. You’ll be able to see the promotional routes here, where the tickets will cost £2 for adults and £1 for children. The promotion is valid for travel between 6 and 24 October 2025 inclusive and does not include return tickets (so you’ll need two singles to carry out a return.)
You’ll have to book these tickets in advance, can’t use a railcard and you’ll have to travel on the set time and date on your ticket. You also can’t get a refund on your tickets unless industrial action is announced.
Though the sale officially ends on Thursday, there are only 3million tickets, so this deal could end early if they run out.

Note that the LNER £5 credit can only be used on LNER journeys. However, it can still be worth booking journeys with other operators through LNER if you have a credit/debit card with a rewards scheme attached (many of them do) – Barclaycard Cashback Rewards, Natwest Rewards, Lloyds Everyday Offers etc – as they often have cashback on tickets booked through LNER for journeys with any operator. I just got 8% cashback for a journey with Southern for using my Natwest debit card to pay for it.
