Andy’s deals of the week 19 August 2023

My pick of the best offers and savings.

Every week I spend hours looking at discounts and deals to pick the good from the bad. I’ll only share ones which I think are worth considering – but remember you’re only saving money if you’re buying something you need and can afford.

Don’t forget to check out my Clever Cash Deals Instagram account. This is where I’ll share any flash offers that will have come and gone by the time this roundup is published.

Andy Webb's deals of the week

This week’s deals

Greene King: Women’s World Cup Final free drink

You can get a free drink during the Women’s World Cup final on Sunday 20 August at your local Greene King sports pub. Just show up wearing England colours, England face paint or the England kit to get a drink of your choice on the house. Here’s more.

Krispy Kreme: Women’s World Cup Final free donuts and hot drink

Krispy Kreme is giving away free donuts and hot drinks to celebrate England making it to the Women’s World Cup Final. The first 50 fans through the doors on match day (this Sunday 20 August 2023) will get a free Original sharer Dozen and a hot drink. Here’s more.

Santander Edge Saver: Huge 7% savings

You can now beat inflation on (some) of your savings! The Edge Saver will pay 7% on balances of up to £4,000 – but there are some catches. First, you need to have the Santander Edge current account (which comes with a monthly fee), and the rate drops after a year. So is it worth it? Here’s our analysis.

Santander Edge: Up to £10 cashback

If you are tempted by the Edge Saver reviewed at the top of the newsletter, then you’ll need an Edge current account – and you can get a free tenner if you apply via a cashback site. Here’s more.

Vue: £4 cinema tickets with Groupon

Watch the latest blockbusters for as little as £4 at Vue cinemas across the UK with Groupon’s ticket bundle deal until the end of September. Here’s more

TSB: Last chance to switch for up to £270

There’s not long left to get up to £270 with the TSB switching deal. The switch needs to complete runs by 31 August 2023 so you’ll need to be quick with this one. Here’s more.

ISAs: 5.3% limited access fix

A bit of an odd ISA, but one that could get you a better rate if you’re not sure you want to completely fix your cash. Provided by Barclays, you can take out up to 10% of your deposit three times a year, and keep adding to it. Here’s more

Nectar: Spin to win prizes and freebies

Nectar cardholders have the chance to win bonus points and prizes (such as packets of crisps) until 29 August 2023. Here’s more.

Chip: Up to £200 bonus

Until midnight Monday 21 August you can get a bonus of between £20 and £200 by adding new money to a Chip savings account and adding a promo code. However the money needs to stay there for six months and you might be able to beat even the combined return via other savings accounts. It’s open to new and existing customers. Here’s more.

National Burger Day: Discounts nationwide

Thursday is National Burger Day so look out for chains and independents offering discounts and specials throughout the week or on the day itself. More here

Nando’s: Free food on Results Day

Nando’s is offering a free quarter chicken or starter for students getting their GCSE results next week. Here’s more.

Liberty: Free beauty boxes via subscription

This one can only be considered free if you’d usually spend £240 or more at Liberty. You can get free subscription boxes valued at £300 by putting £20 a month into your “beauty box”. If you’re tempted, make sure you know how it works and the drawbacks. Here’s the details.

IKEA: Students get £10 off a £75 shop

Students aged 18 and over can save £10 on a £75 shop online or in-store at IKEA. Here’s more.
