With banks increasingly going digital, we’re starting to see several banks close the doors for their high-street branches. TSB has joined the others, announcing 19 branches that will be closing their doors in 2025. Here’s everything you need to know and what to do if yours closes.

When are the banks closing?
TSB has so far announced 19 branches that will close in 2025.

What to do if your branch is closing
Mostly, it won’t impact you too much — the chances are that you rarely use your branch. However, if you’re frequently visiting your local TSB branch, this could make a huge impact.
The best way around this is to open an account with a different bank that does have a branch near you — though, you run the risk of that bank closing too. You don’t have to switch to this new bank if you don’t want to — this would result in the closure of your existing TSB account — but doing so does have some advantages.
When you switch, all of your Direct Debits, standing orders and payments into your account will be moved over for you, so you won’t need to change anything manually. And you could potentially grab a switching bonus of up to £200.
But if you do switch you’ll lose access to benefits you get with TSB.
Your best bet is to stick with the account but open up a new account for whichever alternative you have nearby. Having a local branch can be helpful if you have issues with online or app banking, and in the event of anything going wrong, such as fraud, it’s good to be able to speak to someone.
Plus if you do need to withdraw or pay in large amounts of cash, you’ll probably want to do that in person too.
