Nectar card offers

There are a number of different ways to earn and redeem Nectar points, though few actually increase the value of each point. You can read all about those offers in our Nectar guide, but here we’ll share short term deals.

Nectar: “Shop for Points” challenge

Sainsbury’s has brought back its ‘shop for points challenge’ for Nectar card holders. However, you might not see this if you were previously offered the Countdown to Christmas challenge (more on this below).

This is an easy-to-complete challenge as you don’t have to buy specific items or spend a large sum of money. You just have to spend £1 or more per transaction (exclusions apply) to trigger a bonus. On Andy’s account it’s 50 points the first and second time, then 100 and 200 and 300 for the subsequent ones.

That means complete five shops to earn up to 700 points (worth £3.50), although the amount of additional Nectar bonus points may vary per customer.

If you qualify for this challenge, you’ll need to opt in via the app to take part. Once you have opted in, the extra points will be added automatically to your Nectar account within 28 days following each shop over £1.

You must spend at least £1 cash and cannot pay with points to qualify for the bonuses.

This challenge runs 6 November to 3 December 2024 and any online orders must be completed by this date to qualify.

Nectar: Count up to Christmas challenge

From 9 October to 15 December 2024 you can earn bonus Nectar points by completing challenges when you shop. There will be five tasks, and they will be personalised.

We’ve seen one where you earn 300 points when you earn 300 points. This then unlocks another bonus 300 points when you earn 300, and so on. That means there’s a total of 1,500 bonus points available.

Other versions of the promotion might require a higher or lower number of points to trigger a bonus, which in turn could also be higher or lower.

Remember, you earn one point per £1 spent, so to earn 300 points you’d need to spend £300. However, bonus points count towards the total, so take a look at the other offers in your app (for example we can get 40 points for buying bananas, and another for buying milk).

You need to activate the offer via the Nectar app, and it’s only for spending in Sainsbury’s.

Points should reach your account as soon as you complete the task, but they can take 28 days to appear.

Make sure you swipe your card at the checkout if you’re shopping in-store, or connected it to your account if buying online.

Tesco Clubcard offers

Tesco: Clubcard Challenges

Check your Tesco Clubcard app as some customers are eligible to select a series of Clubcard Challenges to earn up to £50 worth of extra Clubcard points. Not everyone will get the Clubcard Challenges this time – Nicky is the only one in our team who has it, but she’s the only regular Tesco shopper.

Each time you complete a challenge, which is based on spending a set amount on certain products, you’ll get those bonus points.

This time there are 21 challenges to choose from, and you can choose a maximum of 10 to complete. Examples include:

  • Spend £16 on selected fruit to get a bonus 160 points, £24 to get 360 points and £34 to get 680 points
  • Spend £3 on Kellogg’s products to get a bonus 50 points, £5 to get 100 points and £8 to get 200 points.

These Clubcard Challenges end 31 December.

Lidl+ offers

Lidl: Up to £20 back a month with Coupon Plus

There’s also a new offer called Coupon Plus. If you reach certain spending thresholds in the calendar month, you’ll get a coupon to spend.

The levels are:

  • Spend £50 and get a free bakery item
  • Spend £100 and get free crisps
  • Spend £150 and get free juice or smoothies
  • Spend £250 and you’ll get an extra 10% off your next shop (up to a maximum of £20)

You need to scan your Lidl Plus app when you shop to qualify for the offer.

The coupon will be added to you Lidl Plus app and you’ll have seven days to use it.

Obviously, this is only good if you are going to spend that amount anyway – it’s not a reason to buy things you don’t need.

Lidl: Coupons on Lidl Plus app

Download the Lidl Plus app and you’ll get new money off vouchers every Thursday.

You might also find one when you first sign up to save £5 when you spend £25. If it’s there it’s valid for 14 days from when you activate the app.

  1. Nectar count up to Christmas challenge 2024.
Mine is 400 points per 600 points collected – type, £2 bonus for spending £600 when my average shop is around a fiver!
Still, bonus points count so it looks like Sainsburys want me to buy more cakes and buns since that’s where the bigger bonuses are! 😁🥐🍰🧁

  2. Downloaded the LNER app & joined the perks loyalty scheme. But there is no Greggs free food promo offer. Instead, they offer £5 off your next LNER ticket purchase.

  3. I signed up for the automatic points conversion, set up the minimum weekly amount of 400 points. Annoyingly Nectar has converted 40,000 Nectar points to Avios. Phoned up to complain just being told I can convert them back after 10 working days.

    1. Yes but at an inferior rate, so watch out for that. Could be an expensive mistake otherwiss
