Full list of Blue Light Card discounts in 2026

It’s the exclusive club for frontline staff, but is it worth it?

Shopping is always more fun when you get a discount, and with some jobs, it comes as an extra perk. The Blue Light Card is a discount scheme for people who work in certain jobs, with “blue light” being the key hint here, but it’s not just for those with flashing blue lights and sirens, as teachers, social care workers and the armed forces can get the discounts too.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Blue Light Card, including who can get one, the discounts on offer and whether it’s worth the cost.

What is a Blue Light Card?

The Blue Light Card is a discount card for those that work for the emergency services, the NHS, in the social care sector, teaching and the armed forces.

Companies across the country partner with Blue Light Card to offer discounts for these workers, getting some pretty good discounts at high street stores.

It used to just be a physical card that you flashed in-store or when booking, but now it’s also got an online portal of discounts, similar to the ones you might see with student discount sites. You have a digital card in the app and online as well.

Who can get a Blue Light Card

The Blue Light Card might be an exclusive club, but there are actually a lot of different workers that qualify. You can get one if you’re employed by any of the following, including if you’ve retired.

  • 4×4 Response
  • Ambulance Service
  • Blood Bikes
  • British Army
  • Cave Rescue
  • Community First Responders
  • Dental Practice
  • Fire Service
  • Highways England Traffic Officer
  • Home Office
  • Homelessness Workforce

How do I know if I’m eligible for a Blue Light Card?

If you’re a little unsure, sometimes you might think a specific job role might not be eligible, then you can use Blue Light Card’s eligibility tool to double check. You just need to select which organisation you work for and you’ll be able to see if you’re eligible. In some cases, there may be further questions.

In some cases, you may need to contact support to double check

However, from my understanding, it’s pretty broad, no matter what specific role you do in each organisation. For example, my sister’s a graphic designer, and she’s eligible with her employer.

What proof do I need for a Blue Light?

You’ll need to show documentation that can prove your current eligible employment. You can redact everything except your name, employer and date. In some cases, you just need to confirm your work email address

This could include payslips, a pension document, an employment or leaver letter showing your start and end dates (if you’re retired), a professional registration record with your work history or cease date.

The support team is very forthcoming, so you can reach out to check if you have the right documentation to prove your employment.

Can I use the Blue Light Card if I’m retired?

You can still get one if you’re retired from any of the organisations above — you may need to provide slightly different evidence that shows your retired status. You could use your pension document or proof of at least four years of employment.

Where can I use my Blue Light Card?

You can use your Blue Light Card at any of the stores in the in-store list above, or online at any of the online retailers listed. You can try waving it wherever you shop to see if you can get a discount, too.

Is a Blue Light Card worth it?

Zoe’s analysis

If you’re eligible for a Blue Light Card, it’s likely to be well worth getting one.

Some of the discounts are pretty high, and you’d only need to make up £2.50 in discounts each year, you could save double that with just one £50 bill at Wagamama.

There’s a really broad range of people eligible for it —  most of my family are eligible for one via the NHS, despite only one of them working in a medical field — so it’s worth double checking that you’re eligible if there’s any chance you could be.

However, don’t rely solely on the Blue Light Discount website to find good deals, it’s still worth shopping around to find the best deals for what you’re looking for.
