Free cinema ticket offers
Escapes: free cinema tickets
With Cinematik, you can get free tickets to select films for free. Each month, a film is voted to be screened, and you can book to see it on a specific day. You can book a maximum of one ticket per screening. You also have the option to reserve an additional ticket for a guest, which they are required to confirm separately via a shareable invite link.
The cinemas taking part are mainly local independent ones, however there are Picturehouse and Reel cinemas included. You can see the full list here.
Some cinemas that weren’t available before are available now, so it’s worth having a look if you couldn’t get it nearby last time.
The free tickets are funded by the National Lottery and the BFI.
The best cheap cinema ticket deals
You can use these tricks at most of the big chains and even some of the independent movie houses. They’re also some of the best ways to save when going to the cinema.
£5 discount with Santander Boosts
If you’re a Santander Boosts member (you get this via your current account or credit card) you can get access to the Cinema Society, which offers discounted tickets for all the major and some independent chains.
And you might be able to grab a £5 discount on your first ticket, but you’ll have to be quick as this offer is only for the first 3,000 members to make a booking.
You’ll need to register with The Cinema Society via the Santander Boosts link. The extra £5 discount is on top of the other savings you get through The Cinema Society.
Two for one tickets every Tuesday and Wednesday with Meerkat Movies
Get Meerkat Movies, and a year of 2-for-1 codes, for just a few quid.
Compare the Market have replaced EE with the weekly two for one cinema tickets deal, and we’ve found a way to get this for around £1. You can get access to this deal with this cheeky trick. You also now get Meerkat Meals included.
Up to 40% off with multiple chains
It’s worth checking existing memberships and perks (like the ones you get via work) to see if you can buy discounted tickets. And if you don’t, there are ways to get access for free.
These offers generally sell at the same price for tickets based on the chain – no matter where the cinema is based in the UK (except in London).
This means it’s important to check special offers and the price at your local box office in case it’s cheaper to buy direct. Tickets are all digital so you can use them instantly.
Save up to 40% with Lidl Plus
You can get free access to Cinema Society, with discounts on Vue, Odeon, Showcase and others, via the Lidl Plus app.
You’ll need to find the ‘Partner Offers’ section on the app’s homepage, and click through to register. It’s available until 5 October 2024, though once you’re signed up you should keep your membership.
Save up to 40% with Tastecard and Gourmet Society
With Tastecard you can save up to 40% on Odeon, Vue, Picturehouse, Showcase, Cineworld, Empire and other independent cinemas. We’ve written here about the prices you can expect from each chain.
Tastecard trial offers vary, but you can usually get between two and four months for free or £1, then a year for £35. Gourmet Society does essentially the same thing (it’s the same company as TasteCard), and we’ve included the offers in the link below.
Mubi Go membership
Mubi is an online streaming service. For £11.99 a month you get a classic, world cinema or art-house flick to watch, with the curated selection adding a new film every day.
Plus, for an extra £7 you also get a free cinema ticket every week via the Mubi Go service. There’s a 7-day free trial and if you sign up for an annual membership, you’ll save 33%.
You typically can’t watch blockbusters, but there’s a different film every week, and you can go to see that film once.
Of course, with many of the films being smaller, they’ll also have limited releases, so if you don’t live in a big city then there’s a good chance you won’t be able to take advantage every week as not all the films will be shown at all cinemas – from what we can tell, there are some Curzon, ODEON, Vue and Everyman cinemas participating.
It can be hard to find a list of participating cinemas – you can sometimes get a list to your emails if you’ve been signed up before, but this varies by film. Before the pandemic, Andy found a list on the app that included:
- Curzon – 13 locations
- Showcase – 16 locations
- Vue – 80 locations
- Archlight (London)
- Barbican (London)
- BFI (London)
- Genesis (London)
- Prince Charles (London)
- ICA (London)
- Rio (London)
- Abbeygate (Bury)
- Arthouse Crouch End (London)
- Broadway Cinema (Nottingham)
- Chapter (Cardiff)
- Depot (Lewes)
- Dundee Contemporary Theatre
- Eden Court Theatre (Inverness)
- Filmhouse (Edinburgh)
- Glasgow Film Theatre
- Home (Manchester)
- Hyde Park Picture House (Leeds)
- Queen’s Film Theatre (Belfast)
- Showroom Workstation (Sheffield)
- Tyneside Cinema

Picturehouse cinema deals and offers
Andy’s a big fan of Picturehouse (it was his local for years when he lived in London) and it can be incredibly cheap, especially if you’re a member.
Meerkat Movies is accepted at Picturehouse, and you can buy tickets via a Tastecard (more on these at the top of the page).
Picturehouse: 2 tickets for £10.69 (expired)
Until 9 September 2024, you can get two tickets for £9 from Wowcher to use at Picturehouse.
Wowcher add an extra 99p fee, while there’s an additional booking fee of 70p added when you book the tickets at Picturehouse. But £5.30 per ticket is still pretty good.
You can only use the tickets at the same time, rather than split it into two single tickets.
The tickets are valid until 9 December, so you have some time to use them. Be sure to check that they’re valid at your local cinema as only 24 locations are included (Picturehouse Central is excluded).
Picturehouse: £3 tickets via Three+
Every week Three customers can nab a code for a discounted ticket to use Friday to Sunday. Codes are available from Monday. It’s for 2D screenings only, though you can pay to upgrade.
Picturehouse Central and Picturehouse Fulham Road are excluded. You’ll pay a booking fee to redeem the code online, but it’s free to use in the foyer. Here’s more on the Three+ app.
Picturehouse: Discounts
Picturehouse Memberships
Picturehouse memberships offer great value for money. You get free tickets and a discount at any Picturehouse cinema, though the free tickets are sometimes restricted to your member cinema. It’s best to save the free tickets for the weekends when prices go up!
- Full membership represents good value. It’s recently gone up in price to around £57, and £67 in London, but you get five free tickets and £3 off future tickets. It’s more at £90 for the Picturehouse Central.
- Joint memberships with someone you share an address with are even better value. It’ll cost less than getting two individual memberships (£100, £110 and £170 respectively) and comes with 10 free tickets.
Members also get a 10% discount on food and drink, free previews, no online booking fees and occasional other freebies.
Cheap movie days
The day varies depending on each cinema, though largely seem to be Monday or Tuesday. If you go on this day, the student membership price can be as low as £4!
Up to 40% off with Tastecard
You’ll pay £8.65 a ticket outside London and £9.50 a ticket inside London with a Tastecard membership. This is marginally less than a peak adult ticket in most of the Picturehouse cinemas, but much more than off-peak or member prices.
You can also save at the Picturehouse Central in London. It’s a lovely cinema, but it’s also not cheap if you aren’t a member. Here a ticket will cost you £13.70, again it cheaper than peak time adult tickets.
Special Clubs for students, kids and over-60s
Students can join for free to get invites to monthly free screenings with Slackers Club. Sign up in the cinema with your student card.
Kids’ Club screenings are most weekends and tickets are reduced for adults and children.
The Silver Screen Club is for over-60s and the discounted tickets come with a free cup of tea.
Look out for discounts for the unemployed, parents with toddlers and people with autism.
Bring your old 3D glasses to save
Picturehouse lowers the cost of 3D screenings if you bring your old glasses. Worth remembering!
Everyman cinema deals and offers

About the Vue Telegraphs deal – it’s okay to use the tickets after you’ve canceled Telegraph?
As the tickets are valid for 12 months, is it okay to get them, then I assume you put them on your Vue account? And then use them within the 12 months and it’s okay to use them after you’ve canceled Telegraph?
Yep, absolutely!
I’ve signed up to the Stevie app. Looks good! Do you know how/when you get the cinema tickets?
Hi,
‘Vue: Pizza and ticket for £5 at Asda’ has gone up to £6, which is still a great deal.
Thanks Dorit!
Great list. However ‘Vue: Pizza and ticket for £5 at Asda’ has gone up to £6, which is still a brilliant deal – if you like pizza ;-).
Frustrated – the Steve discount link with a promised £10 gift card for turtle bay doesn’t give a gift card a link to an app for £10 off but only for new turtle bay customers! (And I’m not a new one)
This is available generally via Google and doesn’t need the stevie subscription
I’ve now subscribed to something which will take money automatically unless I cancel
Should only link to genuine offers not just to earn kickbacks
Thank Matthew – good to know. I wasn’t aware of this. I don’t get any kickback from this at all so will update the offer
Hi there,
I couldn’t see a reference to the vue tickets on the telegraph link posted?
Many thanks
Curzon update, they no longer do the Classic Local membership, so Classic membership is now £65 whether you live in London or not.
There are two Cult packages, Cult and Cult+
Cult costs £285 for the year or £25pm, while Cult + costs £850 for the year or £75pm.
Vodafone no longer running the offer
Tastecard+ has resumed support for Cineworld as of today (wasn’t available last night). 6.60 for an adult 2D ticket compared to the regular price of 11.70.
How many % is vue’s student discount? You said it works out cheaper than vue’s Super Mondays
It does depend on the cinema so always worth checking the prices at your local
Also if your a Barclays Bank account holder, check to see if you qualify to be a premier account holder which gives you a years free picturehouse cinema membership annually as long as you continue to qualify
Thanks for this David! A good one to add
Stratford Picturehouse in East London offer £7 film tickets every single day and £5 for Picturehouse Members. The membership is £25 with 4 free tickets to use at Stratford Picturehouse only, but will get you the usual discounts at all the Picturehouse Cinemas (£2 off tickets and 10% off food and drink).
Yes, love Stratford Picturehouse. It’s my local, though I’ve got a backlog of gift cards at the mo for other chains so not been there for a while. I’m thinking of getting a Picturehouse Central membership this year though
