There’s also a new cheaper advert supported plan

What is Paramount+
Since it’s launch in 2022, Paramount+ has offered a single subscription service, charged at £6.99 a month, or £69.90 for a year.
Though it has a decent back catalogue of older shows and films and a handful of high profile new content, it’s rarely delivered anything “must watch” compared to the other streaming services.
How is Paramount+ changing?
From 20 November 2024, there will three options rather than one. The format and naming conventions follow similar moves from the likes of Disney+ and Netflix.
The existing service will remain pretty much unchanged – except for a £1 monthly increase. If you want to jump up from HD to 4K, you’ll be able to now get that on Premium, but pay another £4 each month on existing prices.
Or if you don’t mind adverts you can switch down to a cheaper Basic option that’ll save you £2 a month compared to current prices, or £3 on the new Standard option.
Paramount+ basic with Ads | Paramount+ Standard | Paramount+ Premium | |
Old price | N/A | £6.99 a month | N/A |
New price | £4.99 a month | £7.99 a month | £10.99 a month |
Picture quality | HD | HD | 4K |
Concurrent streams | 1 | 2 | 4 |
Adverts | Yes | No | No |
Downloads | No | Yes | Yes |
Paramount haven’t announced annual prices yet, though you can assume it’ll be £79.90 for Standard and £109.90 for Premium. If it follows the format by Disney+, there won’t be an annual pass for the cheaper advert supporter tier.

How to beat the increase
If you’re committed to Paramount+, then you could buy a one year Standard price at £69.90, saving yourself £10 on the likely annual price after 20 November, and £26 on paying monthly for 12 months on the new price.
However, there are normally half price annual plan deals a couple of times a year, including Black Friday, which will happen in a few weeks time. If that returns, and there’s no guarantee, this could be £40.
Saying this, I took advantage of a similar deal last year (costing £35) and I’ve hardly watched anything other than two seasons of Frasier and one of Yellowjackets. In reality, even if I’d paid for four separate months over the year I’d have paid less. I probably could have made do with just one or two, saving even more, even against that offer price.
There are also sometimes deals welcoming you back for one month for free. Though rare, looking out for these, could be much better value.
And if you’re with Sky and pay for Sky Cinema you can get a free subscriptions – though I’d suggest you’re better off paying as you go for Sky Cinema via NOW and Paramount+ as and when you need it.
And for new customers there are some deals out there for a free month free trial. We’ll share these, and other offers we spot in our Paramount+ deals page.
Which Paramount+ tier is best?
Personally I don’t think the Premium tier is worth it for the vast majority of people. There’s not a huge amount of content at 4K, and even if there is, HD via Standard is still more than good enough for most people and most TVs.
I also don’t like adverts, so prefer to avoid these tiers. But if you’re ok with them, and don’t need to download or share your membership, then that’s going to be a decent option.
