Andy’s deals of the week 19 June 2021

My pick of the best offers and savings.

Every week I spend hours looking at discounts and deals to pick the good from the bad. I’ll only share ones which I think are worth considering – but remember you’re only saving money if you’re buying something you need and can afford.

Don’t forget to check out my Clever Cash Deals Instagram account. This is where I’ll share any flash offers that will have come and gone by the time this roundup is published.

Bank switch: £125 from HSBC or First Direct

There’s a new bank switch offer this week and an increase from another, meaning you can get £125 from two different banks – though not if you opened an account with either of them since 1 January 2018. Here’s more.

Boots: £7 in points and £3 cashback

On Saturday 19 June only you can add an offer to your Boots Advantage card to earn £7 in points every time you spend £35. And if you combine this with a new promo code for Airtime Rewards, you’ll get £3 back on top of the standard 5% cashback.

Prime Day: Early deals

Amazon’s Prime Day sale is on Monday and Tuesday, and there are a handful of early offers.

I’ll share anything that stands out in this article on Monday, but my top tip is to make a list now of things you want and only buy them (if they’re at a good price of course) and don’t get tempted to splash out on offers for things you really don’t need.

And remember, other retailers will price match on the big offers, especially on Amazon tech like Echo speakers and Fire TV.

Cinema: Various deals

If your local cinema is a Vue then an offer on Wowcher is decent. You can get two tickets for £10 or 10 for £40.

Meanwhile at Cineworld you can get 14% off a gift card – which can be combined with other ticket offers such as Meerkat Movies.

And don’t forget, as I shared last week, you can get two free tickets to loads of different cinemas this weekend with a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard. I picked up the latter for £1 (didn’t win!) and am going to see A Quiet Place 2.

Here’s more on all of these offers.

O2: £10 eBay voucher if you sell

Anyone on O2 should head to their Priority app to claim a £10 eBay voucher when you sell for the first time in a year on eBay. More here.

Books: Independent Bookshop Week

Saturday sees the start of celebrations for local small bookshops and though there’s no set deal it’s worth checking to see if your local store is running any promotion or free events.

It’s also a good opportunity to see if you can utilise the American Express Shop Small offer to get £5 off a £15 spend.
