The Winner Takes Eiffel

Paris Eiffel Tower In December I had a bit of spare time and entered a few online competitions, not really expecting much. Guess what? I won!

To be precise I won a Eurostar return for two to Paris, meal for two with wine on a boat down the Seine and £100 of Cafe Rouge vouchers, all via a Barclaycard “Advent Calendar” on Facebook. That’s worth about £385.

We’ve booked to go in June for my birthday. We’ll have to get the hotel ourselves but that’s fine, and it means we can stock up on tarts at the best patisserie in the world ever (according to us).

I also won 500 Tesco Clubcard points (worth £10 when I swap them for train vouchers), and that’s just from maybe 10 minutes a day for two weeks. I’m still trying (I’ve not won again… yet) and it’s pretty easy.

I’m not sure why I’ve not done this before as I’ve a pretty good record on comps. 3 years ago I won an iPad just by using my Barclaycard at Wireless Festival (selling that paid for some flights to Vietnam), and the year before I won two VIP tickets to V Festival by entering a code from under a coke can ring pull into a website!

Maybe I’ve used up all my luck for a while, but for a little bit of work I’m excited about what else could come my way…
