Best reward accounts

The best reward current accounts available right now

Bank accounts don’t have to be just a place to keep your money. Reward accounts let you get extra perks for banking, with very little effort. These can get you freebies, cashback, and better savings rates or interest on your balance. Plus, you can sometimes pair them with switching bonuses to get even more.

But they aren’t without some drawbacks. A lot of them have fees or requirements, such as a certain amount paid in each month or a number of direct debits set up, but generally speaking, it can be really easy to get the perks. Here are some of the best ones available right now.

Types of Reward current and debit card accounts

Cashback accounts

There are a handful of accounts that will pay you cashback – effectively money back on your everyday spending. Some will do this on direct debits (Santander Edge, Edge Up and Biscuit by Zopa), while others will pay this on debit card spending (Chase, Trading 212, Nationwide FlexDirect).

Some debit card only accounts offer the chance to earn points on your spend (Hilton Honours, Yonder).

Freebie accounts

You can get free tickets, subscriptions and more from some reward accounts. Club Lloyds offers cinema tickets, Disney+, Gourmet Society or a magazine subscription. Monzo Perks provides Uber One membership, a railcard, monthly cinema tickets and weekly Greggs, though you’ll pay £7 a month.

Cash rewards

Others will pay you a monthly cash bonus, though a fee will reduce the profit. The NatWest Reward and RBS Reward accounts, and TSB’s Spend and Save and Spend and Save Plus accounts will each earn you £5 a month.

High interest on savings

You can access exclusive savings rates as a reward with a number of accounts. Most are via regular savers (First Direct, Biscuit by Zopa, Club Lloyds) but you can also get a linked saver (Santander Edge, Chase) or interest on the account balance (Nationwide FlexDirect, Trading 212 and Biscuit by Zopa).

Bank switch offers

Many of the reward accounts will also offer bank switch offers. Though not always restricted to reward accounts, it’s often worth stacking your perks with both the switch offer and reward. We’ve listed all the latest bank switch deals in our separate guide.
