Cheap Night In w/c 2nd June

Staying in at all this week? Here are the picks to keep you entertained at home without breaking the bank. Your essentials for a cheap night in!

Pick Of 99p Film Rentals

The Road

The choice of films on Blinkbox’s 99p Movie Mondays has been pretty poor the last few weeks, and this is the worst yet. Most are straight to DVD or very poorly reviewed (Svengali and Almost Married were panned). The best (and that’s not necessarily an endorsement) of recent releases Glee meets Mean Girls high school themed G.B.F which might be passable. Some good older flicks you can pick from include The Road (bleak but very good) and Once (which I hated but many people love).

You can only rent them at this price on Monday, but you have 30 days to actually watch. Click through to the Blinkbox Movie Mondays page, select the film you want to watch (SD only) and enter the code MONDAYS121 at checkout to rent for that price.

For more on Blinkbox and how to get £6 credit for just £1 when you sign up – basically getting this film and more for free – see our Clever Site guide.

On-Demand Pick

Orange Is The New Black From Friday, Netflix

Though House Of Cards gets most of the publicity, this other original Netflix show is well worth watching. Currently the first is available on Netflix, and the second series starts on Friday.

You can get a free trial of Netflix for 30 days, then it’s £5.99 a month after that. Read our guide to make sure you get the best value when streaming film and tv.

Free Catch Up Choice

Southcliffe, 4OD

Winner of Best Actor Bafta a few weeks back, this four part drama about a shooting in a small British town had rave reviews. All four episodes can be watched on Channel4’s on-demand service 4OD. Some TV’s and games consoles will have an app to play it straight to your connected TV. Otherwise you can use the link below to watch on a computer.
