I’ve always had a rolling phone and contract deal with my mobile networks, but when my current contract expires in October I’m pretty certain I’ll go SIM only. This means you buy the phone separately – or keep your old one – and just pay for the minutes/texts/data.

Are there better deals?

Talk Talk and BT are both offering deals for existing broadband customers at around £12 a month. If you switch broadband you will be charged more.

You can pay less if you want less data, though with 500mb there’s a good chance you’ll go over your allowance.
