There’s a bumper selection of TV and on-demand to watch on Monday, so set to record!
MONDAY
TV – Modern Family
Sky One, 8pm & 8.30pm
Funniest show right now.
TV – Secrets Of Your Credit Rating
Channel 4, 8pm
A Dispatches special looking inside the biggest credit reference agency in the UK. Should be interesting stuff (and hopefully not too scary!).
TV – The Walking Dead
Fox, 9pm
My favourite drama right now. Andrew Lincoln struggles on after a zombie apocalypse.
TV – The Culture Show: The Kermodes
BBC Two, 10pm
Forget the Oscars, Mark Kermode gives his annual alternative film awards
Much Ado About Nothing
Shutter Island
Syriana
Blinkbox.com
A Monday night offer gets you these and a choice of others for just 99p.
Despicable Me 2 and it’s ‘minions’ was a massive hit last year with kids and adults of all ages. If you like your movies fun but a little less silly, Joss Whedon (Buffy, The Avengers) pulled together a great version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado in just a few weeks.
I’d also recommend a few older titles in the deal if you haven’t seen them. Scorsese’s Shutter Island is a tense investigation into goings on at an asylum with a great DiCaprio performance and amazing sound design (seriously, turn it up). If you prefer your dramas epic and political, oil focused thriller Syriana won George Clooney an Oscar in 2006.
The offer is for tonight only, but you don’t have to start the rental for 30 days.
TUESDAY
TV / RADIO – Olympiakos vs Man Utd
ITV1/BBC 5 Live, 7.30pm
Football fans get a chance to see if Wayne Rooney’s added millions are worth it in this Champions League tie.
TV – Doll & Em
Sky Living, 10pm
Emily Mortimer plays herself, with best friend Dolly, in an LA set improvised comedy. Cameos galore!
WEDNESDAY
TV – The Restaurant Man
BBC Two, 8pm
TV – Line of Duty
BBC Two, 9pm
TV – Inside No.9
BBC Two, 10pm
BBC Two night! Quality food / business doc, followed by tense cops investigating cops drama, finished by a weird and wonderful concoction from half of The League Of Gentlemen.
THURSDAY
It’s the Oscars on Sunday. Pretty boring to watch, but much more fun if you’ve got something going on it. Now I’m not endorsing gambling here, but why don’t you spend tonight setting up a sweepstake with your friends?
Simply cut and paste six or so categories (and the nominees) of your choice into a spreadsheet, and then email the list to everyone you think will want to take part. They’ll need to email you back who they think will win. Everyone puts a quid in and whoever get’s the most right takes it all. You’ll prob need a tie breaker…
FRIDAY

TV / HOME GIG – Prince: Sign O’ The Times
Sky Arts 1, 9pm
If like me you’re jealous of anyone who got to see the Purple One live in tiny gigs recently, here’s your chance to pretend you did the same.
1) Get your blinking Xmas tree lights back down from the loft.
2) Take your biggest TV to your smallest room.
3) Crowd as many people as possible into said room.
4) Watch this Prince concert very loud.
When it’s finished get on BBC Radio Player for some of today’s sets at the 6 Music Festival.
SATURDAY
TV – True Detective
Sky Atlantic, 9pm
Actor of the moment Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson team up as cops in the latest big HBO drama.
RADIO – The 6 Music Festival
6 Music, from 1pm
Live broadcasts all day from the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, Bombay Bicycle Club and Haim.
SUNDAY
The perfect night to catch up on something from earlier in the week!
