Cheap Night In – Thurs 13/2

Wow, the TV schedules tonight are DULL. So instead of the pick of TV, here are a few quality dramas you can find on-demand

The entire collection of Shameless is available. I stopped watching it after a series 3 or 4 when the likes of Maxine Peake left and it lost it’s edge. It’s possible it picked up later on (there are 11 seasons), but the first few series are still fantastic viewing. Start from the beginning to enjoy this black comedy with early turns from James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff, and the iconic Frank Gallagher played by David Threlfall.

If you haven’t signed up the free trial, you should just to watch this remake of the BBC classic. David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) directs and Kevin Spacey is at his best as the scheming Congressman in this tight political thriller. Season Two starts is available from Friday (now that’s a valentines!) so you might find you lose the whole weekend to this fantastic show.

A show that frustrated as much as it excited, they’ve announced that 24 will return and is currently being filmed in London. So if you want to catch up with 80s icon Kiefer Sutherland as the grizzed Jack Bauer, Love Film has each series. Like Shameless, it lost it’s way after maybe series 4, but the first series particularly remains one of my all time favourites.
